Scout groups charge subscriptions to cover cost of equipment and the resources to enable us to deliver good quality scouting. Part of those subscriptions (Subs) go towards the annual membership fee paid to Headquarters (Gilwell) for the day to day running of The Scout Association that includes insurance for all members.
The current monthly subscriptions are £12.00, with a voluntary £1 donation towards the cost of a new building, for all three sections (correct at time of publication), paid by Standing Order. The Standing Order details are below on page 21.
For young people trying out Scouting for the first time, then up to 4 weeks are free. When the young person is first invested into the group, there is a joining fee of £10 to cover their badges and Group neckerchief. Camps, Days Out, Special Events etc, are charged separately and the cost will be dependent on the activity.
